A study, led by the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore with participation from Lleida, has associated obesity with decreased renal function and the risk of death for the first time. The study, which has been published in the prestigious journal The British Medical Journal, shows that having a body mass index above 30 increases the risk that kidney function worsens, whether it is normal or if the individual suffers from disease chronic kidney.
