TRPV Channels in Physiopathology: Bridging Interactomics and Drug Discovery
Membrane proteins are crucial targets from biopharmaceutical and biotechnological perspectives. Setting up high-throughput approaches for the study of membrane proteins is necessary in order to provide insightful information about the function and structure of interesting membrane protein targets related to drug design and for the optimization of biotechnological processes. Specifically, Dr. Perálvarez’s research is focusing on a set of ion channels, named Transient Potential Receptors (TRP), particularly in a mammalian subset of these membrane proteins, the TRPV subfamily, which are involved in somatosensation. To better understand them, he proposes a combination of biochemistry, structural biology and computational approaches. Speaker: Àlex Perálvarez, PhD; Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology / Institute of Neurosciences – Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.
